This month Australian Made Campaign Chief Executive, Ben Lazzaro, presented the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials Award at the 57th Australian Export Awards to Marand Precision Engineering, a global defence manufacturer.

The Australian Export Awards is a national program that honours Australian businesses for their export achievements and contribution to Australia’s economic prosperity.

As part of the awards program, finalists had the opportunity to participate in the National Export Awards Masterclass, with the theme of ‘Expect the Unexpected’. Ben Lazzaro presented alongside CEOs, founders, inventors and innovators working on interesting projects in the ACT region.

This year marks the 20th consecutive year that Australian Made has proudly sponsored the Manufacturing category of this prestige Awards program.

The Hon. Simon Birmingham, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, said this year's awards recognise the enormous contribution exporters make to Australia with the 94 finalists employing over 34,000 Australians generating more than $7.8 billion in export sales.

“This year’s award winners are from the city, outback and bush, and span a range of sectors from businesses exporting designer mattresses, essential oils, aerospace parts, animation services and underwear,” Minister Birmingham said.

“Exports create more Australian jobs and make a huge contribution to our economy. Businesses that export hire 23 per cent more staff, pay 11 per cent higher wages and have labour productivity that is 13 per cent higher than non-exporting firms. That's why we continue to back our 53,000 exporters by providing more opportunities through expanding our network of free trade agreements.”

Australian Made licensee, sonnen Australia, was awarded the Minister’s Investment Award for Research & Development in recognition of their positive contribution and investment to create jobs and drive innovation.

The Australian Made Campaign would like to congratulate all of the winners and finalists on their fantastic achievements. The complete list of winners can be found here.
