The NSW boys and girls teams have won the national Australian Made Red Energy Foundation Cup after a series of playoffs that took place at the West Lakes Tennis Club in South Australia.

The tournament gives children 13 and under from across rural and regional Australia the opportunity to participate in competitive tennis at the highest level.

The awards were presented at the World Tennis Challenge, held at Memorial Drive, by Mark Richardson on behalf of Red Energy, Ian Harrison on behalf of the Australian Made Campaign, and tennis great Judy Dalton on behalf of the Fed Cup Foundation.

Alec Braund from QLD was awarded the John Fitzgerald Medal, while India Schreiber from NSW was awarded the Judy Dalton Medal, for best and fairest on the courts.

Alec and India also each received a $1000 cheque, to assist with their tennis development.

“The Australian Made Red Energy Foundation Cup celebrates local talent – and Australia has a lot to be proud of,” Australian Made Campaign Chief Executive, Ian Harrison, said.

“We produce some of the best quality products in the world, and our home-grown athletes are no exception.”

Watch the best of the tournament and hear from these young up-and-coming tennis stars about what it means to them to be given the opportunity to play:
