The Australian Made Campaign says consumers can directly support Aussie farmers affected by drought by purchasing Australian Made, Australian Grown products.

For months, many of Queensland’s and New South Wales’ agricultural communities have been devastated by one of the most relentless droughts in the nation’s history.

Australian Made Chief Executive Ben Lazzaro, who recently featured on a segment on Channel Ten’s Studio 10 program about the drought, said consumers should think locally at the checkout.

“This drought is a poignant reminder for us all to stop and think about the flow-on effects of our purchasing decisions,” Mr Lazzaro said.

“In the context of drought, buying Australian grown food and other products can have positive economic impacts in our rural regions at a time when they need it most.”

Upon referencing Australian made fibre products, like wool and cotton products, Mr Lazzaro said the economic ripple effect from purchasing other types of locally manufactured products should not be forgotten.

“Australian made products that go beyond the farm – like furniture, health and even industrial products –  are often made by businesses based in regional communities. So it goes full circle.

“Look for the green and gold kangaroo logo...when you buy Australian-made and grown products, you can be sure you are keeping families employed, and communities alive and prosperous.”
